Kiprusoff's Jersey to be Retired by Flames

Retirement Night Set for March 2

Former Goalie to be Honored at Saddledome

CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Flames have announced that Miikka Kiprusoff's jersey will be retired in a ceremony at the Saddledome on March 2. The honor comes 20 years after Kiprusoff first arrived in Calgary and went on to become one of the team's most beloved players.

Kiprusoff, who retired at the end of the 2012-13 season, holds the Flames record for wins (305) and shutouts (41). He was also a Vezina Trophy finalist in 2006 and helped lead the Flames to the Stanley Cup Final in 2004.

"Miikka was a true icon for our franchise," said Flames President and General Manager Brad Treliving. "He was a world-class goaltender and a great teammate. We're thrilled to be able to honor him with this jersey retirement."

Kiprusoff was known for his quiet demeanor and humble personality. He was also a fierce competitor who always gave his all on the ice.

"I'm truly honored and humbled by this," said Kiprusoff. "Calgary is a special place to me and I'm so grateful for the support I've received from the fans and the organization."

The jersey retirement ceremony will take place before the Flames' game against the Edmonton Oilers on March 2. Kiprusoff's jersey will be the 10th to be retired by the Flames.
