47th Player in Franchise History to Receive the Accolade

CALGARY - Former Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff has announced his retirement from professional hockey. The Flames have announced that they will retire Kiprusoff's number 34, making him the fourth player in franchise history to receive this honor.

Kiprusoff, who played 10 seasons with the Flames, helped lead the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004. He was a four-time NHL All-Star and won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goaltender in 2006.

After leaving the Flames in 2013, Kiprusoff played one season with the Minnesota Wild before retiring. He finished his career with a record of 319-252-73 with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

Kiprusoff's number will be retired on October 23, 2023, when the Flames host the Montreal Canadiens at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
